Athlete’s Foot, also known as ringworm, is a fungal infection that causes skin scaling, flaking, and itchiness. Athlete’s Foot is generally transmitted in moist environments, such as communal showers, and requires a warm, moist environment to incubate. As the name implies, athlete’s foot typically affects the feet, as the inside of shoes is an ideal environment for the fungus to incubate. Athlete’s foot can however spread to or infect other areas of the body that are kept consistently hot and moist.
